Athar Matin, a senior private TV producer and well-known journalist, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Shar-e-Quaid. According to details, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near Ibrahim Haideri area of North Nazimabad.
As a result of which severely
injured journalist Athar Matin could not survive. Initial reports said that the
incident was the result of resistance in the robbery. However, SP Gulberg Tahir
Noorani said that the car rider hit the motorcyclist. He opened fire on the
rider and fled.
Police started investigation
into the incident. SP Gulberg said further details of the incident were being
sought. According to police, the accused left their motorcycle after the firing
and fled on a citizen's motorcycle.
The body of slain journalist Athar Matin has been shifted to Abbasi Martyrs Hospital for necessary legal action. TI Sindh Assembly member Khurram Sher Zaman said that he was saddened by the death of journalist Athar Matin. Criminal elements have spiraled out of control. Most crimes are reported in Central District.
